Kundapur Chicken Pulimunchi
Kundapur Chicken Pulimunchi is a traditional dish from the Dakshina Karnataka Cuisine, known for its bold flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons coriander seeds
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
- 5-6 dried red chilies
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2 sprigs curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
Instructions
- Dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and dried red chilies. Grind them along with grated coconut, ginger, and garlic to make a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and let them splutter. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ground masala paste and cook for a few minutes. Then, add turmeric powder, chopped tomatoes, and tamarind paste.
- Add the chicken pieces, salt, and water. Cover and cook until the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or neer dosa.
