Kurdish Lamb Kebabs with Mint Yogurt Sauce (Kürt Kebab)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the lamb, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. While the lamb is marinating, prepare the mint yogurt sauce by mixing the yogurt, chopped mint, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Thread the marinated lamb onto skewers.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the lamb kebabs for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
