Ingredients
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine gram flour, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, baking soda, and salt.
- Add water gradually to form a smooth, thick batter. The consistency should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Add the thinly sliced onions to the batter and mix until they are well coated.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat for frying.
- Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the onion batter into the oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the pakoras from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Kurkure Pyaz Pakoray hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
