Kurnik Kudos
Kurnik Kudos is a traditional Russian savory pie filled with chicken, mushrooms, and rice, all encased in a flaky pastry crust. This hearty dish is perfect for a special occasion or a comforting family meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the cooked chicken, rice, mushrooms, onion, hard-boiled eggs, chicken broth, sour cream, dill, salt, and pepper.
- Roll out the puff pastry and line a greased pie dish with it.
- Spoon the chicken mixture into the pastry-lined dish.
- Cover the pie with another sheet of puff pastry, crimp the edges to seal, and brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let the kurnik cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
