Kutsinta
Kutsinta is a traditional Filipino steamed rice cake that is commonly served as a snack or dessert. It is chewy, slightly sweet, and often enjoyed with freshly grated coconut.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon lye water (or food-grade lye)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the rice flour and brown sugar.
- Add water and lye water to the mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Pour the batter into small molds, filling them about 3/4 full.
- Steam the kutsinta for 20 minutes or until set.
- Let it cool before removing from the molds.
