Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup peanuts, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, and brown sugar. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped peanuts and green onions.
  7. Serve the Kyar Zan Kyaw hot with steamed rice or noodles.
