Kystyby, also known as Tatar meat pies, are a delicious traditional dish from Tatar cuisine. These tasty meat pies are perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onions, salt, black pepper, cumin, and water. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, warm water, and vegetable oil. Knead the dough until smooth, then divide it into small balls.
- Roll out each dough ball into a thin circle. Place a portion of the meat mixture on one half of the circle, then fold the other half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges to seal.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the pies for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve the kystyby hot with your favorite sauce or dip.
