Lahanodolmades (greek-style Stuffed Cabbage Rolls)
Lahanodolmades are a traditional Greek dish made with cabbage leaves stuffed with a flavorful mixture of rice, herbs, and ground meat. This dish is a staple in Greek cuisine and is perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 cup of rice
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 can (14 oz) of crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil the whole head of cabbage in a large pot of water for 5 minutes, then remove and let it cool. Peel off the cabbage leaves carefully.
- In a bowl, mix the rice, ground beef, onion, parsley, dill, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the rice mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll it up, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Place the stuffed cabbage rolls in a large pot, seam side down.
- In a separate bowl, mix the crushed tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the cabbage rolls.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour.
- Serve the lahanodolmades hot and enjoy!
