Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 can (14 oz) of crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the whole head of cabbage in a large pot of water for 5 minutes, then remove and let it cool. Peel off the cabbage leaves carefully.
  2. In a bowl, mix the rice, ground beef, onion, parsley, dill, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a spoonful of the rice mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll it up, tucking in the sides as you go.
  4. Place the stuffed cabbage rolls in a large pot, seam side down.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the crushed tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the cabbage rolls.
  6. Cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour.
  7. Serve the lahanodolmades hot and enjoy!
