Lahmajoun (lavash Pizza)
Lahmajoun, also known as Armenian Lavash Pizza, is a delicious and flavorful dish that is perfect for a quick and easy meal. This traditional Armenian recipe features a thin and crispy crust topped with a savory meat mixture and a blend of aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 large lavash bread or thin flatbreads
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground lamb or beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, diced tomatoes, parsley, minced garlic, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is well combined and the vegetables are tender.
- Preheat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place a lavash bread in the skillet and spread a portion of the meat mixture evenly over the bread. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is crispy and the meat is heated through.
- Repeat with the remaining lavash bread and meat mixture.
- Serve the lahmacun hot, cut into wedges, and enjoy!
