Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 1/2 cup ghee or oil
  • 1/2 cup almond paste
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and ginger-garlic paste. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink.
  3. Stir in the yogurt, almond paste, and all the spices. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in enough water to cover the chicken. Cover the pot and simmer for 40-45 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
  5. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
