Ingredients

  • 500g chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup fresh fenugreek leaves (methi)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes. Then, add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn white.
  3. Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the chicken. Cook for 5 minutes on medium heat.
  5. Add the fresh fenugreek leaves and garam masala. Pour in water, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked and the gravy has thickened, remove from heat and serve hot.
