Lahori Mutton Biryani Pulao is a traditional Lahori dish that combines the flavors of biryani and pulao, creating a delicious and aromatic rice dish with tender mutton pieces.
Ingredients
- 1 kg mutton, cut into pieces
- 3 cups basmati rice, soaked
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 cup mint leaves
- 1/2 cup coriander leaves
- 4 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a large pot and fry the sliced onions until golden brown. Remove half of the fried onions and set aside for garnishing.
- Add mutton pieces to the pot and cook until they are browned.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
- Add yogurt, tomatoes, mint leaves, and coriander leaves. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Layer soaked rice over the mutton mixture and pour water over the rice.
- Sprinkle garam masala, green chilies, and the reserved fried onions on top.
- Cover the pot and cook on low heat until the mutton is tender and the rice is cooked through.
- Once done, gently mix the rice and mutton together before serving.
