Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 4-5 green chilies, slit
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes. Then, add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
  3. Stir in the tomato puree, yogurt, and all the spices. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the mutton cook on low heat until tender (about 45 minutes to 1 hour).
  5. Once the mutton is cooked and the gravy has thickened, garnish with green chilies and fresh coriander leaves.
