Lahori Mutton Handi is a traditional Lahori dish known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This slow-cooked mutton curry is a staple in Lahori cuisine and is best enjoyed with naan or rice.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 cup fresh cream
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a handi or deep cooking pot.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add mutton pieces and cook until they change color.
- Add tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
- Whisk yogurt and add it to the mutton. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add garam masala and green chilies. Cover and cook on low heat until the mutton is tender.
- Once the mutton is cooked, add fresh cream and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
