Ingredients

  • 4 lamb or goat trotters
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup ghee or oil
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the trotters thoroughly and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat ghee or oil and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  4. Now add the trotters and cook until they change color.
  5. Stir in the tomato puree, yogurt, and spices. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat, cover the pot, and simmer for 3 hours or until the trotters are tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
