Lahori Puri Chana (lahori Puri Chana)
Lahori Puri Chana is a classic Lahori dish consisting of deep-fried bread (puri) served with a spicy chickpea curry (chana). This dish is a popular choice for breakfast or brunch in Lahore, Pakistan.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chickpeas, soaked overnight
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Water for kneading
Instructions
- Pressure cook the soaked chickpeas with salt until soft.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Now, add the pureed tomatoes and all the dry spices. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add the cooked chickpeas to the masala and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- For the puris, knead the flour with water to form a stiff dough. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into small puris.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the puris until they puff up and turn golden brown.
- Serve the hot puris with the chana masala and enjoy!
