Ingredients

  • 6 slices of white bread
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • Assorted nuts and saffron for garnish

Instructions

  1. Trim the crusts off the bread slices and cut them into triangles.
  2. In a deep pan, heat the ghee and fry the bread slices until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, heat the milk, sugar, and cardamom powder. Let it simmer until the milk reduces and thickens slightly.
  4. Add the fried bread slices to the milk mixture and let them soak for a few minutes.
  5. Transfer the Shahi Tukray to a serving dish, garnish with assorted nuts and saffron, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
