Lahori Tawa Chicken (لہوری توا چکن)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil on a tawa or large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
  5. Add chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
  6. Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and coriander powder. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  7. Whisk yogurt and garam masala together, then add it to the tawa. Cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
