Lahpet Kyet Thote, also known as Tangy Pickled Tea Leaf Chicken, is a traditional Burmese Chinese dish that combines the tangy flavors of pickled tea leaves with tender chicken.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup pickled tea leaves
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp fish sauce
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Add pickled tea leaves, onion, tomatoes, and green chilies. Stir well.
- Season with fish sauce, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for another 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
