Lamb Broth, also known as Shorpo, is a traditional Kazakh dish that is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for warming up on a cold day.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs lamb meat, cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 turnip, peeled and cubed
  • 1 bunch fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 bunch fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add the lamb meat and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
  2. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface.
  3. Add the onion, carrots, potatoes, and turnip to the pot. Simmer for an additional 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in the fresh dill and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!
