Ingredients

  • 1 kg lamb, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup ghee or oil
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds. Sauté until they start to crackle.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the lamb pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  5. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, yogurt, and all the spices. Mix well.
  6. Cover and cook on low heat for 45-50 minutes or until the lamb is tender.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
