Lamb Trotters (lahori Paya)
Lamb Trotters, also known as Lahori Paya, is a traditional Pakistani dish that is rich in flavor and often enjoyed with naan or rice. The slow-cooked trotters result in a tender and flavorful meat dish that is perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 4 lamb trotters
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Wash the lamb trotters thoroughly and set aside.
- In a large pot, heat some oil and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger and garlic paste, and cook for a few minutes.
- Now, add the tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates from the masala.
- Add the lamb trotters to the pot and mix well with the masala.
- Pour in the water, cover the pot, and let it simmer on low heat for about 3 hours or until the trotters are tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
