Lebanese Spinach And Feta Fatayer
Fatayer is a popular Middle Eastern pastry that can be filled with a variety of savory ingredients. In this recipe, we will be making Lebanese Spinach and Feta Fatayer, a delicious and flavorful appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 3 cups of fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 cup of crumbled feta cheese
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of sumac
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1 package of store-bought pizza dough
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, chopped onion, olive oil, sumac, salt, black pepper, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and cut it into 12 equal-sized circles.
- Place a spoonful of the spinach and feta mixture in the center of each dough circle.
- Fold the edges of the dough circle over the filling to create a triangular shape, pinching the edges to seal the fatayer.
- Place the fatayer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
