Leek Gratin (lyonnaise-style Gratin De Poireaux)
Leek Gratin, also known as Gratin de Poireaux, is a classic dish from Lyonnaise cuisine. This creamy and flavorful side dish is perfect for any occasion, whether it's a casual family dinner or a special holiday meal.
Ingredients
- 4 large leeks, white and light green parts only, sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil the leeks in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in half of the grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Arrange the leeks in a baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over them. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
