Ingredients

  • 4 large leeks, white and light green parts only, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil the leeks in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  5. Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in half of the grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Arrange the leeks in a baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over them. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
