Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or butter
  • 1/2 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, minced garlic, yogurt, and the yeast mixture. Knead the dough until smooth, then cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball. Roll out each ball into a teardrop shape.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Brush one side of the naan with water and place it water-side down in the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 2 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  5. Brush the cooked naan with ghee or butter before serving.
