Lemon Soup (Nimmakaya Charu) is a popular and refreshing soup from the Telugu Cuisine. This tangy and flavorful soup is perfect for a light and comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 lemons, juiced
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 green chilies, slit
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
- Curry leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a pot, bring water to a boil.
- Add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, green chilies, and salt. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds, and let them splutter. Add asafoetida and switch off the flame.
- Add the tempering to the soup and mix well.
- Turn off the heat and add lemon juice. Garnish with coriander leaves and curry leaves.
