Lentil Patties (Къуламаш)
Kъуламаш (Lentil Patties) is a traditional dish from Chechen cuisine, made with hearty lentils and aromatic spices. These flavorful patties are perfect for a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup red lentils, rinsed
- 2 cups water
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the red lentils and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the lentils are soft and the water is absorbed.

- Form the lentil mixture into patties using your hands.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the lentil patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the kъуламаш (lentil patties) hot with your favorite side dishes or as a filling for sandwiches.
