Liechtensteiner Cheese Fondue (Liechtensteiner Käsefondue)
Liechtensteiner Käsefondue, or Liechtensteiner Cheese Fondue, is a traditional dish from the small European country of Liechtenstein. This rich and creamy fondue is perfect for sharing with friends and family, especially during the colder months.
Ingredients
- 1 garlic clove, halved
- 1 1/2 cups dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 pound Emmental cheese, shredded
- 1/2 pound Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 French baguette, cut into bite-sized pieces
Instructions
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic clove.
- Pour the wine and lemon juice into the pot and heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
- In a separate bowl, toss the shredded cheeses with the flour until well coated.
- Gradually add the cheese mixture to the simmering wine, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Stir in the nutmeg.
- Place the fondue pot over a fondue burner and serve with the French baguette pieces for dipping.
