Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh cherries, pitted
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 cup red wine
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the cherries, water, sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Stir in the red wine and continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with cold water until smooth. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the soup, stirring constantly until the soup thickens slightly.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and discard.
- Allow the soup to cool slightly before serving.
