Ingredients

  • 4 large leeks, washed and sliced
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gouda cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Heat over medium heat until it starts to simmer, then remove from heat.
  3. Grease a baking dish with the butter.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish.
  5. Top the potatoes with half of the sliced leeks.
  6. Pour half of the cream mixture over the leeks and potatoes.
  7. Sprinkle half of the grated Gouda cheese over the cream mixture.
  8. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, leeks, cream mixture, and Gouda cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  11. Let the gratin rest for 10 minutes before serving.
