Limburgse Pruimenknoedels, or Limburgian Plum Dumplings, are a traditional dish from the Limburg region in the Netherlands. These delicious dumplings are made with a potato-based dough and filled with juicy plums, making for a delightful sweet treat.
Ingredients
- 500g potatoes, peeled and diced
- 200g all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- 12 plums, pitted
- 100g breadcrumbs
- 50g sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 50g vegan butter
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them and let cool.
- Combine the mashed potatoes, flour, and salt to form a dough.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and flatten each piece into a small disc.
- Place a plum in the center of each disc and wrap the dough around it, forming a smooth ball.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully drop the dumplings in.
- Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the dumplings float to the surface.
- In a separate pan, melt the vegan butter and add the breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook until golden brown.
- Roll the cooked dumplings in the breadcrumb mixture until coated.
- Serve the Limburgse Pruimenknoedels warm and enjoy!
