Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8-10 fresh plums, pitted and sliced
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan. Arrange the plum slices on top of the batter.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the plums.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
