Litti Chokha (लिट्टी चोखा)
लिट्टी चोखा (Litti Chokha) is a traditional Bihari dish that consists of stuffed wheat balls (litti) served with a spicy mashed vegetable mix (chokha). It is a popular dish in the Bihari cuisine and is often enjoyed as a snack or a main course.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup gram flour
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, gram flour, ghee, and water to make a stiff dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, coriander leaves, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt to make the stuffing.
- Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them. Place a spoonful of the stuffing in the center and seal the edges to form stuffed balls (litti).
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake the litti for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- For the chokha, roast the eggplant, tomatoes, and green chilies on a stovetop or in the oven until charred. Peel and mash them together with chopped onions, coriander leaves, and salt.
- Serve the hot litti with the chokha and enjoy!
