Lohikiusaus (finnish Salmon Pie)
Lohikiusaus, or Finnish Salmon Pie, is a traditional Finnish dish that combines the rich flavors of salmon with creamy potatoes and dill. This comforting and hearty pie is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 500g salmon fillet, skinless
- 1kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Place the salmon fillet on top of the potatoes and season with salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle half of the sliced onions and half of the chopped dill over the salmon.
- Cover with the remaining sliced potatoes, onions, and dill.
- Pour the heavy cream over the layers.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool for a few minutes before serving.
