Ingredients
- 6 dried lotus leaves
- 3 cups glutinous rice
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, soaked and diced
- 1/2 cup dried shrimp, soaked
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
Instructions
- Soak the lotus leaves in warm water for 2 hours until they become soft. Drain and set aside.
- Rinse the glutinous rice until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan, then add the shiitake mushrooms and dried shrimp. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the glutinous rice, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and white pepper to the pan. Stir well to combine.
- Place a lotus leaf on a flat surface. Spoon a portion of the rice mixture onto the center of the leaf. Fold the sides of the leaf over the rice to form a parcel.
- Repeat the process with the remaining lotus leaves and rice mixture.
- Steam the parcels over high heat for 1 hour.
- Remove the parcels from the steamer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
