Lotus Leaf Wrapped Tofu (荷叶包裹豆腐)

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of firm tofu
  • 4 lotus leaves
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 red chili, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu by cutting each piece in half horizontally to create 8 thin slices.
  2. Soak the lotus leaves in warm water for 10 minutes to soften.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
  4. Place a slice of tofu on each lotus leaf, then top with the marinade, green onions, garlic, ginger, and chili slices.
  5. Wrap the lotus leaves around the tofu to create parcels, then secure with kitchen twine.
  6. Heat a pan over medium heat and add the tofu parcels. Cook for 5 minutes on each side until the lotus leaves are crispy.
  7. Serve the荷叶包裹豆腐 (Lotus Leaf Wrapped Tofu) hot and enjoy!
