Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup cornstarch for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of cornstarch with 1 cup of water to create a smooth paste.
  3. Gradually pour the cornstarch paste into the saucepan while stirring continuously.
  4. Add rose water and continue to cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and becomes translucent.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for 4 hours or until set.
  6. Cut the set loukoumia into small squares and dust with a mixture of powdered sugar and cornstarch.
