Lu Mi Ya (braised Duck With Chestnuts)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole duck, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup chestnuts, peeled
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a wok or large skillet over medium heat. Add the duck pieces and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the duck from the wok and set aside.
  2. In the same wok, add the ginger, garlic, and green onions. Stir-fry for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Return the duck pieces to the wok. Add the Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Stir to coat the duck evenly with the sauce.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and add the chestnuts. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, or until the duck is tender and the chestnuts are cooked through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot and enjoy!
