Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) pork belly, cut into cubes
- 1 cup chestnuts, peeled
- 3 slices ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Heat a wok or large skillet over medium heat. Add the pork belly and cook until the fat is rendered and the meat is browned.
- Add the ginger, garlic, and green onions. Stir-fry for a minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Stir to combine.
- Add the chestnuts, star anise, cinnamon stick, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, or until the pork is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the braised pork with chestnuts hot with steamed rice.
