लखनवी मटन कोफ्ता करी (Lucknowi Mutton Kofta Curry) is a traditional dish from the Uttar Pradesh cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This dish features tender mutton meatballs cooked in a creamy and flavorful curry, perfect to be enjoyed with naan or steamed rice.

Lucknowi Mutton Kofta Curry (लखनवी मटन कोफ्ता करी)

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton mince
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix mutton mince, onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, coriander leaves, mint leaves, gram flour, garam masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Shape the mixture into small round balls to make the koftas.
  2. Heat ghee or oil in a pan and fry the koftas until they are golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining chopped onion and sauté until golden brown. Add the yogurt and cook until the oil separates.
  4. Add the cream and mix well. Then, add water to achieve the desired consistency for the curry.
  5. Gently place the fried koftas into the curry, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or steamed rice.
