लखनवी निहारी (Lucknowi Nihari) is a traditional dish from the Uttar Pradesh Cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This slow-cooked stew is a perfect blend of tender meat and a variety of spices, making it a popular choice for special occasions and gatherings.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely sliced
- 4 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pot and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
- Stir in the turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala.
- Pour in the water, add salt, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 2-3 hours until the meat is tender.
- Adjust the seasoning and serve hot.
