Luganega (siswati Sausage)
Luganega is a traditional sausage from Eswatini, also known as Swaziland, that is bursting with flavor and spices. This recipe will guide you through the process of making this delicious Siswati sausage at home.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, salt, black pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, coriander, nutmeg, and cloves until well combined.
- Add the red wine vinegar and water to the meat mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
- Divide the sausage mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a long, thin sausage shape.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the sausages. Cook for about 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the sausages from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
