Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced

- 2 tablespoons doubanjiang (broad bean paste)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
- Add the beef slices and stir-fry until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
- In the same wok, add garlic, ginger, green onions, and Sichuan peppercorns. Stir-fry until aromatic.
- Add doubanjiang, soy sauce, Chinese cooking wine, and sugar. Stir to combine.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the wok, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Return the cooked beef to the wok and toss to coat with the sauce.
- Transfer the Ma La Beef to a serving dish and garnish with additional green onions if desired.
