Ma Qian Doufu, also known as Crunchy Manchu Sesame Tofu, is a traditional dish from Manchu Cuisine that features crispy tofu coated in a flavorful sesame sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- Green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Press the tofu cubes between paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch.
- Heat sesame oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the coated tofu cubes and cook until crispy and golden brown.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, and ginger.
- Pour the sauce over the crispy tofu and toss to coat.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds over the tofu and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions.
