Ingredients

  • 2 cups semolina
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the semolina, melted butter, sugar, and milk until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the chopped dates, walnuts, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Take a small portion of the semolina dough and flatten it in your palm.
  4. Place a small amount of the date and walnut mixture in the center of the dough.
  5. Close the dough around the filling, shaping it into a ball or using a maamoul mold for a decorative pattern.
  6. Place the filled cookies on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  7. Allow the maamoul cookies to cool before serving.
