Македонска јагнешка чорба (Macedonian Lamb Stew) is a traditional Macedonian dish that is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a cozy meal on a cold day.
Ingredients
- 1 kg lamb, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 3 potatoes, diced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup rice
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 6 cups beef or vegetable broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the lamb cubes over medium heat.
- Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in the carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, and red bell pepper.
- Add the rice, parsley, paprika, thyme, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour in the broth and bring the stew to a boil.
- Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours, or until the lamb is tender.
- Adjust the seasoning if needed, and serve hot.
