Macedonian Mastika (Мастика)
Мастика (Macedonian Mastika) is a traditional Greek liqueur with a unique flavor and aroma. It is typically enjoyed as a digestif and is often served with meze or desserts.
Ingredients
- 1 liter of tsipouro or vodka
- 1 tablespoon of mastika extract
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool.
- Once the syrup is cooled, add the mastika extract to the syrup and stir well.
- Pour the tsipouro or vodka into a large glass jar or bottle.
- Add the mastika syrup to the tsipouro or vodka and stir gently to combine.
- Seal the jar or bottle and let the mastika mixture rest for at least 24 hours before serving.
