Macedonian Pastrmajlija (Пастрмајлија)
Пастрмајлија (Pastrmajlija) is a traditional Macedonian dish, similar to a pizza, topped with marinated meat and spices. It is a popular dish in Macedonian cuisine and is often enjoyed as a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 500g pizza dough
- 300g pork or beef, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1 red pepper, sliced
- 100g feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Roll out the pizza dough on a baking sheet to form a large oval or rectangular shape.
- In a bowl, mix the sliced meat, chopped onion, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the marinated meat mixture evenly over the dough.
- Arrange the sliced tomatoes and red pepper on top of the meat.
- Sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese over the vegetables.
- Drizzle the sunflower oil over the entire pastrmajlija.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the meat is cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
