Macedonian Pita (Пита)
Пита (Macedonian Pita) is a traditional Macedonian dish that consists of layers of phyllo pastry filled with various ingredients such as cheese, spinach, or meat. It is a popular dish in Greek cuisine and is perfect for a hearty meal or a delicious snack.
Ingredients
- 1 package of phyllo pastry
- 2 cups feta cheese
- 1 cup spinach, chopped
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the feta cheese, spinach, onion, eggs, salt, and pepper.
- Brush a baking dish with olive oil.
- Layer 4 sheets of phyllo pastry in the bottom of the baking dish, brushing each sheet with olive oil.
- Spread half of the cheese and spinach mixture over the phyllo pastry.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining phyllo pastry and cheese mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the pita is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
