Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes, then place it in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Punch down the dough and knead in the raisins and walnuts. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the bread for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
